Movie Night was a success, thank you Dads’ Club for another fun event!

ITBS Testing
This week the children will be taking the ITBS tests. These tests are helpful and give you (and us) another data point on where your child is academically. Please have your child/children get to bed early, eat breakfast and arrive on time to school! We will begin testing immediately after the announcements at 8:15am. If your child is late, he/she will not be allowed into the classroom until that assessment is complete and will have to make it up later. Make up tests will be next week and the children will have to miss class to take the tests they missed. It is very important to be on time! Also- please do not pull your children from class early for appointments.

We have some great news! We have hired a new Spanish teacher. Her name is Mrs. Perusquia. She has a Master’s Degree in Education and has been a Spanish teacher for several years.

Next week there is no school for Spring Break. I have included information for the following week.

Over the break there are lots of great things happening on campus! The main basketball court will be resurfaced, thank you to the Dads’ Club and to all of the parents who support the food fundraisers and activities that the Dads’ Club hosts. 

The misters will be installed on the kindergarten playground and the dismissal area where the grass and shade are located by the 4A-8A classrooms. The funds for this were raised through the Gala. Thank you to all of the families who helped to support this wonderful event!

The second graders’ First Reconciliation Service was beautiful on Wednesday. Thank you to the St Therese group for the lovely reception afterwards. The children were so well prepared! The Father/Daughter Dance on Saturday was a blast! Thank you to the Dads’ Club for another amazing event.

Dear OLMC Community,

Information was emailed home this week about our Lenten Project: Sponsoring Ugandan students through the E3 Africa Program. If you have any questions, please reach out to us. We encourage you to have the children do some chores to earn money for the student they are sponsoring. You can also make donations here: E3 Africa Donations. The collection dates are Thu, Mar 9 and Wed, Apr 5. 

Wednesday
The 2nd graders will be making their First Reconciliation at 9:30am. Please keep them in your prayers. 

Dear Faculty and Staff,

As we are moving into Lent we have partnered with Fr. Robert’s school in Uganda, E3 Africa, for our Lenten Service Project. Each grade will sponsor a student at the E3 Africa school. It costs $840.00 to educate, feed and give housing to a student for an entire year. We would like each grade to adopt a student. The children will receive a picture of the student, information about this student and will then follow this student yearly as he/she goes through school (the kids will grow together!). We are hoping that the children could earn money by doing acts of service around the house this Lent to raise money to help their students. I will send a more in-depth email to further explain the project this week. 

Dear OLMC Community,

We will have the Eucaharistic Miracles Exhibit this week. Parents are able to visit the exhibit in the library Tuesday through Friday from February 14 to 17 from 7:30-8:05am. The St. Therese Group is also selling Bl. Carlos Acutis Shirts & Stickers. The proceeds will go to the crucifix for the Adoration Chapel. The students may wear these shirts on Spirit Shirt days!

Friday, February 17 is a 12:30pm dismissal. The students may wear their spirit shirt and uniform bottoms. Dad’s Club is also hosting a Peter Piper Pizza Party from 4:00-8:00pm. Please pick up your SCRIP before you go!

What an AMAZING Catholic Schools Week we just had! If you are not following us on social media, please do so as we posted so many fun shots from the week! Between the Bingo, Falcon Fun Run, Field Day, Mass and the Eucharistic Procession, it was a pretty incredible week. It wrapped up with Casino Night on Saturday, and then our student led Masses on Sunday. Thank you to everyone for making this Catholic school so special. The Fun Run fundraiser winners will be announced at school on Monday and we will post our fundraising total next week.

The Mother/Son Kickball is this coming Saturday! It is always a lot of fun!

This next week is a very busy week! We will be kicking off Catholic Schools Week. Below is a schedule and I have attached a printable schedule to hang on your fridge to easily refer to! 

We will be collecting new toys for a Diocesan-wide drive for St. Vincent de Paul. Please bring in any new toy!

Home & School Needs oranges for the children for field day. Please bring your donation to the kitchen in McCready Hall on Thursday so we may wash & cut for the event! If you are able to wash and cut them before you drop them off it would be very helpful, but if not, that’s okay too!

This is the last week for the discounted Enrollment Rate. Please Enroll here and put the discount code OLMC to receive the 50% discount. After Fri, Jan 27 this will go up to $300 and we will open enrollment to everyone outside. 

The Mother/Son Kickball registrations are due Mon, Jan 23. if you want your t-shirt for the event. You are still able to sign up until Fri, Feb 3, but your shirt will likely not be in but can be used as a spirit shirt. Mother-Son Kickball is on Sat, Feb 11 from 1:00-3:00pm. Dear OLMC Community,

Please remember School starts at 8:05am. There has been an influx of late children. When your child is late it not only impacts him/her it also disrupts the entire classroom. The teacher needs to repeat instructions, your child has missed announcements, the other children are distracted, etc. Please be accountable and respect the classroom environment by being on time.

It was a wonderful week back to school. The kids have grown so much in the two weeks they were gone! Looking towards this week:

Monday

You will be receiving an email about Early Enrollment. We will be giving a 50% discount on the enrollment fee from Monday, January 9 until Friday, January 27. We will then open enrollment to families outside our current school community. Please take the time to read the email in its entirety. There will also be a short video explaining the change in tuition. There will be a 3% increase in tuition and the fees that are usually paid separately in June will now be rolled into tuition. The fees are the same, the tuition increase is 3%. Please see the email tomorrow!

Thank you to Home and School for a wonderful Staff Lunch on Friday and a fantastic St. Nick’s breakfast on Saturday. Such great, community building events! So much is happening here in the coming weeks.

Tomorrow is the last day to sign up for the OLMC Parish Kid’s Christmas Choir, led by our very own Mrs. Lowe! This is available for students, grades 2nd-8th. Practices will be held on:

• both Tue, Dec 6 and 13 at 7:00am, (both during regular OLMC School choir practice)
• Tue, Dec 6 at 4:00pm
• Thu, Dec 8 at 4:00pm (Yes, this is a Holy Day)
• and Tue, Dec 13 at 4:00pm.
