Corporal Works of Mercy 2011-2012

The OLMC Student Council is dedicated to supporting our community by living the words “love thy neighbor.” The Works of Mercy campaign coordinates the collection of various donations for distribution to charitable organizations that are making a difference for families and individuals in need. Thank you for your continued support and sacrifices.

St. Vincent de Paul Collections

The pantry maintained by the OLMC Chapter of the SVDP greatly benefits from the monthly personal hygiene item collections that are coordinated by the OLMC School Student Council. Needy families cannot use food stamps or other vouchers to purchase these hygiene items. Thanks to the generosity of OLMC students and their families, our SVDP chapter is able to provide these basic necessities to families who would otherwise go without. Each month, the Student Council will collect personal hygiene items according to the schedule below. Although the recommended item changes each month, any and all personal hygiene items may be donated throughout the year.

MISSION JAR COLLECTIONS

Every month, each classroom’s goal is to collect at least $25 (less than $1 per student) for its Mission Jar. Students are encouraged to EARN the money for their contribution by helping out at home. Mission Jar collections are donated to four charities that provide vital and important services to our community: Friends of the Orphans, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Aid to Women and the CDA. The more we collect, the more we can help.

AUGUST BACK-TO-SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE to benefit St. Peter’s Mission School

St. Peter’s Mission School is located about 35 miles south of OLMC in Bapchule, Arizona, in the Gila River Indian Community. The school is more than 100 years old and serves over 200 students, kindergarten through eighth grade. The children who attend this school come from very low-income families. As we begin a new school year, help those who are less fortunate by donating the supplies they need to be successful in school.
