Dear OLMC Community,

We are on the road to Lent! This Wednesday we will begin Mass at 1:45am for the distribution of ashes. You are welcome to attend.

This week we will have a 12:30pm dismissal on Thursday to begin Spring Break. Friday there is no school. We will resume classes on March 14.

On Ash Wednesday we will begin our Lenten Almsgiving Project. We will have the Penny Wars return this year and are going to raise money for the Sister’s school in Peru. We will send home a flier prior to Wednesday reviewing all the details for those of you who have not experienced the Penny Wars- just save your coins!

The Sisters have also created a Lenten Almsgiving Calendar if you would like to follow!

We are making some changes to our Smart, Healthy, Holy Plan. Please see the attached document as we have created an amendment titled, M.E.R.C.Y. plan. These changes will be effective on March 14 when we return from Spring Break.

There will be no Learning Labs on Tuesday.

We are selling ads for the yearbook. If you are interested, these are $20. If you would like to purchase please complete this Yearbook Ad Form

The Father/Daughter Dance was wonderful as always. I am so thankful for all of the volunteers who assisted in making the event wonderful and a special thanks to the Dads’ Club for all of their hard work. This is one of the most memorable nights for our little girls!

Thank you to the Sterns who hosted the Book Sale yesterday. I know there were several families who helped and it is much appreciated! It was great to see so many families come to support our library! Thank you so much! They raised over $1,500.00!

Finally, thank you to Home & School for the wonderful lunches they provided for the teachers this week. I know several parents donated food and time and it was much appreciated by all of us to not have to make lunch!

I wanted to give a friendly reminder that the first bell in the morning rings at 8:05am. The late bell is 8:15am. When students arrive late, they start out a step behind the other students who have prayed together, heard announcements and are beginning morning work. PLEASE make an effort to be on time. We really need the children to start their day off on time! It is very disruptive to the learning environment when there are several children coming into the class late and then wanting to visit with friends or try to figure out what they have missed. Thank you for making the effort to leave a few minutes earlier to arrive on time!

Have a great evening,

Dr. Shewbridge
