09-25-2022Principal's Letter

Dear OLMC Community,

This past week the 8th graders served at I-Help. They did a great job serving those in need. Next month, on Thu, Oct 27, the 7th graders will prepare food and serve.

On Saturday the Dads’ Club had their 1st Annual Cornhole Tournament! What a great event!

The Student Leadership Team is sponsoring a water bottle drive for St. Vincent de Paul and Paz de Cristo. They are asking for one case of bottled water per student. We will accept the donations first thing in the morning. You may drop them off beginning at 7:00am. Thank you for supporting this effort!

Southwest Portraits will be on campus to photograph our students for picture day on Thu, Sep 29. They offer an online pre-order service. Please visit: OLMC School Picture Pre-Order and type in your student's name. This will allow you to select the package or prints of your choice and check out at the end. The CUT-OFF to pre-order is Thu, Oct 6 at 12:00pm. All pre-ordered prints will be delivered to the school for distribution. After Fri, Oct 14, the yearbook image will be available for online ordering by going to www.portraitorders.com and entering your student ID number. Once you place your order, your prints will be mailed to you with different mailing option fees. This will allow you to see the photograph before you order.

If you have any questions, please contact Southwest Portraits at 480-222-1199 or info@southwestportraits.com. Please note Southwest Portraits does not offer online proofing at this time.

**Picture retakes are scheduled for Thu, Oct 27.

Just a reminder if your 8th grader is shadowing at one of the local high schools, please call the Nurse’s Line to report the absence or email attendance@olmcschool.info

Home and School meeting at 8:15am on Friday in McCready Hall. All are welcome!

Upcoming

This Friday, September 30th, Home & School is having their monthly meeting. Come and learn about all the great things happening at OLMC! We’ll get a Gala update, discuss the Fall Festival, and hear about a special guest who will be visiting OLMC to talk about social media. Join them in McCready Hall at 8:15am.

The deadline for Brophy Scholarships Round #2 is Sat, Oct 1. Please make sure you have completed the application, submitted your taxes and provided a Previous Scholarship Verification form or Public School Transfer form (if applicable) BY OCT 1. All information can be found at the Brophy Foundation website - brophyfoundation.org/apply

On Tue, Oct 4, we will have our annual Feast of St. Francis Pet Blessing. If you choose to bring your pet (make sure it is not crazy like mine), it must be on a lease or contained and mom or dad must have control of the animal at all times. The blessing will begin on the courts at 8:40. The pets are NOT allowed to stay or go into any of the buildings. If you do not want or are unable to bring your pet, please feel free to send your child with a stuffie or picture of the animal.

On Wed, Oct 5 from 6:00-7:00pm in McCready Hall representatives from Seton Catholic will be giving a presentation about the admissions process and what their school has to offer. I suggest if you have a student in grades 7th or 8th and you are interested in any Catholic High school to attend and get some of your questions answered.

On Thu, Oct 6 we will have an all school rosary beginning at 11:45am along with a procession of roses (kinder and 7th graders) in celebration of Our Lady of the Rosary. Later that day, the Dads’ Club will be hosting a food fundraiser for Portillo’s from 12:00-9:00pm.

Gala Update

A BIG thank you to all of the volunteers who are helping with soliciting donations, auction item inventory, basket making, and site decor. Your time and talent do not go unnoticed. This year’s event is going to be SO fun.

Tables are filling fast for the Gala! Buy your tickets NOW. Some of our supporter packages include admission to the event. Go to www.OLMCschool.info/gala2022 for more information.

The silent auction for the Gala will open Sun, Oct 8 at 6:00pm. You do not need to attend the gala to participate in the silent auction. All the auction items will be at the event to preview.

Didn’t have a chance to donate an auction item from your class theme? There are still items needed to fill our baskets on our Amazon registry.

If you cannot attend the gala and simply want to contribute, you can either become a Falcon Supporter or make a donation. Visit the event website for ways to support the school.

Have a great week- technically since we are in “Fall”, I am hopeful for cooler weather!
