This next week is a very busy week! We will be kicking off Catholic Schools Week. Below is a schedule and I have attached a printable schedule to hang on your fridge to easily refer to! 

We will be collecting new toys for a Diocesan-wide drive for St. Vincent de Paul. Please bring in any new toy!

Home & School Needs oranges for the children for field day. Please bring your donation to the kitchen in McCready Hall on Thursday so we may wash & cut for the event! If you are able to wash and cut them before you drop them off it would be very helpful, but if not, that’s okay too!

This is the last week for the discounted Enrollment Rate. Please Enroll here and put the discount code OLMC to receive the 50% discount. After Fri, Jan 27 this will go up to $300 and we will open enrollment to everyone outside. 

The Mother/Son Kickball registrations are due Mon, Jan 23. if you want your t-shirt for the event. You are still able to sign up until Fri, Feb 3, but your shirt will likely not be in but can be used as a spirit shirt. Mother-Son Kickball is on Sat, Feb 11 from 1:00-3:00pm. Please remember School starts at 8:05am. There has been an influx of late children. When your child is late it not only impacts him/her it also disrupts the entire classroom. The teacher needs to repeat instructions, your child has missed announcements, the other children are distracted, etc. Please be accountable and respect the classroom environment by being on time.

It was a wonderful week back to school. The kids have grown so much in the two weeks they were gone! Looking towards this week:

Monday

You will be receiving an email about Early Enrollment. We will be giving a 50% discount on the enrollment fee from Monday, January 9 until Friday, January 27. We will then open enrollment to families outside our current school community. Please take the time to read the email in its entirety. There will also be a short video explaining the change in tuition. There will be a 3% increase in tuition and the fees that are usually paid separately in June will now be rolled into tuition. The fees are the same, the tuition increase is 3%. Please see the email tomorrow!

• Friday is a half day with a 12:30pm dismissal.

Thank you to Home and School for a wonderful Staff Lunch on Friday and a fantastic St. Nick’s breakfast on Saturday. Such great, community building events! So much is happening here in the coming weeks.

Tomorrow is the last day to sign up for the OLMC Parish Kid’s Christmas Choir, led by our very own Mrs. Lowe! This is available for students, grades 2nd-8th. Practices will be held on:

• both Tue, Dec 6 and 13 at 7:00am, (both during regular OLMC School choir practice)
• Tue, Dec 6 at 4:00pm
• Thu, Dec 8 at 4:00pm (Yes, this is a Holy Day)
• and Tue, Dec 13 at 4:00pm.

I hope you all had a beautiful Thanksgiving! Here are some reminders for the next week:

There is no school Monday. We will return on Tuesday.

During the season of Advent, we will begin meeting in the Prayer Garden at 8:05am to pray together. The 7th graders will lead us in prayer and we will sing “O Come Emmanuel”. You are all welcome to join us. 

Wednesday we will have Mass. Please have your student wear his/her Mass uniform.

Last week we had our Accreditation visit. We received the top-level accreditation status, so they will not return again for six years- this is the best result you can get! They could not stop raving about the children, teachers, staff and community. 

I want to say a special thank you to the Home and School who provided exceptional hospitality to the visitors. 

There will be no Learning Labs this week.

Thank you to so many families who came out for the Movie Night on Saturday! I appreciate all the hard work the Dads’ Club put into making this evening a success. 

Thank you to the Home and School Board who served wonderful lunches to the faculty and staff this week before conferences. The teachers really enjoyed it! 

They also enjoyed meeting with all of you to discuss your child’s/children’s progress during conferences. 

Our Taste of Kindergarten was a success and we are excited to begin enrolling the new kinders for next year. The “big school” will begin the enrollment process before Christmas this year for returning families. More information to come!

The Scholastic Book Fair will be held all week in the library! Your students may bring money to purchase books at a reasonable price. The children will visit during Library time. Below are additional hours:

Wow! What a wonderful Fall Festival this weekend! Thank you Home and School along with the Dads’ Club for hosting this fun, family-friendly event!

Cooler weather is here! Place your orders as soon as possible! We have also ordered a stock of some new sweatshirts in the office to purchase too. We will send an email as soon as they arrive. We currently have a lot of larger sizes on hand. Please remember per the dress code the children need to be wearing OLMC outerwear. There is also a new, heavier jacket being offered on the spirit store site. Upi may go to the school website or directly there: olmcspirit.com.

Dear OLMC Community,

On Thursday the 7th graders will be volunteering at I-Help. We still need several items, please consider donating 7th grade I-Help.

On Friday the Home and School Board will have a Coffree and Dr. MaryRuth Hackett will be there to talk about her book Daughter by Design. Signed copies will be available at a discount!

On Friday, the Student Leadership Team is hosting a dance for the 7th and 8th graders. Please refer to the flier for dress code and more information.

Thank you so much for the outpouring of support for the Gala! This was such a wonderful evening and very well done! It could not have been as successful if it were not for all of the auction donations and volunteers. It was great to see so many new families too!! I will share final numbers when I receive them! 

Upcoming events for this week:

Monday: Dads’ Club Meeting at 6:00pm at Fate Brewery on Southern. 

Friday: 8th graders are attending their retreat at Pinerock. I will send an additional email with reminders tomorrow.
